FYU metal zine (Belgique) - 07/12/2006

This demo is in fact a full-length and it’s probably not the best idea for a young band to release 52 minutes of music when your aim is supposed to get noticed either to book shows or to get signed. Their songs being rather long, three or four tracks would have been enough and they could have focused their efforts more on production.

Don’t get me wrong, Moray Firth is everything but a shitty band. This act from the french capital of traffic jam, Lyon, offer us some slightly old-dated epic Metal mixing several styles from dark/gothic to heavy and thrash metal. Songs have quite long instrumental parts with some Maiden and Metallica kind of solos, some technical passages and lotsa progressive elements. Some of those parts really sound awesome, both axemen displaying huge talent, but it’s unfortunately often too long and too raw with that rehearsal-touch resulting in a lack of production. Some excellent parts are sometimes cut by basic and repetitive elements.
Vocals are clear but not high-pitched, slightly gothic and kept rather low in the mix. A few female vox have been added for good measure.

The band claims they wanna live from their music. I can’t tell it won’t happen someday but " it’s a long way to the top, if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll "…
